The Apple Fell Further
No doubt you have gathered that Holmes Lilley is bit impulsive, showy and driven by his most primal impulses, but the question now remains why? Well, finding out is actually a bit easy if you just use Google. In a profile of Holmes posted here, Holmes gives us his background. Born in North Carolina, he describes his upbringing as tumultuous and unstable, with his mother working three jobs and resorting to welfare to make ends meet for herself and her children. There is absolutely no shame in this, as sometimes we all need some help, and it surely isn't responsible for the troubles seen later on its Holmes' character, but it likely didn't help. So, where was Holmes' father during his childhood? Turns out, Holmes William Lilley Sr, his father, struggles with drugs and the criminal lifestyle it comes with. Since at least 2016, Lilley Sr has been involved in three separate arrest incidents here, here, and here involving felony drug possession and felony violation of parole.
It is unknown what Lilley Sr was placed on parole for, but its likely drug related. Holmes Jr has no doubt distanced himself from his father, and sadly that may be necessary. Its widely known that children exposed to drug addicted parents have more issues with impulse control, like their parents, than children whose parents are sober. But the indiscretions of Lilley Sr only explain why Holmes Jr may have had some trouble with developing a strong moral character; they certainly don't explain why Holmes took it a step further than his father by living lavishly while your company and its employees suffer.
